Apr 28: Saying "No" with Kindness & Strength
Time & Location
About The Event
Kind people are often much more comfortable saying “yes” than they are saying “no”. We like to make others happy and that often means saying yes to another’s request. However, sometimes we say “yes”, when we would really prefer to say “no”. Unfortunately, saying “YES” when your mind is shouting “NO, is a predictable and reliable source of stress. In this class, you will learn how important it is to say “NO”, when it is necessary and appropriate. Next, you will learn whatever your specific blocks and fears around saying “no” are. Then, you will learn specific breathing, and other body-based techniques, for removing those blocks and fears, and for instilling and maintaining appropriate personal boundaries. Finally, you will learn two communication tools that will reliably allow you to calmly assert your own wants and needs, while preventing others from ignoring your wishes to achieve their own. This class is highly experiential, revealing, and, often, a great deal of fun!
To make your experience as comfortable as possible, bring the following items:
• A water bottle: you will be drinking a great deal of water during the course of the weekend and will want a ready supply.
• Loose comfortable clothing , socks are a good idea if your feet tend to get cold
• Comfortable shoes – you will most likely slip them on and off
• A notebook and pen/pencil
